Electrical Engineer (FPGA and PCB Design)

We are looking for an outstanding Electrical Engineer to design and develop FPGA system hardware with high-speed data acquisition (DAQ)  for sensing applications. The candidate will function in a highly collaborative, cross-functional environment and will interact with engineers, biochemists, molecular biologists, and device development team. The candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively across functional units and be comfortable taking hands-on approaches to rapidly build and validate new designs. The candidate will be responsible for VHDL/Verilog code development, PCB design and testing, and hardware/software interface.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop RTL/VHDL/Verilog codes in FPGA platform.
  • Design PCBs for data acquisition.
  • Develop customized hardware/software interface for data analysis.
  • Develop testing criteria for design verification and production certification.
  • Assist in architectural design and parts selection.
  • Assist in the identification and implementation of process improvements.

Requirements

  • Expertise in FPGA programming and controls.
  • Experience designing and prototyping PCBs.
  • High bandwidth (1-100 MHz) circuit design.
  • Low current amplification and measurement design experience is a plus (picoammeter, feedback ammeter, electrophysiology/patch-clamp, etc.)
  • Good knowledge of analog and digital filtering.
  • EMI shielding best practices.
  • Experience interfacing various sensors, microcontrollers, and devices
  • Knowledge of common communication buses such as I2C, CAN, Serial and SPI
  • Experience with Oscilloscopes and/or Logic Analyzers
  • GPU programming experience is desired but not required
  • Outstanding soldering ability is a plus
  • PhD preferred, open to highly qualified Master’s and exceptional Bachelor’s holders as well

Research Scientist/ Engineer: CMOS Devices

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, fabricate and improve semiconductor components, microfluidics and nano-sensors utilized in INanoBio’s diagnostic platforms
  • Design, build, optimize, and validate custom data acquisition systems for multiplexed ultra-low current measurement of a large array of sensors
  • Work on data collection and analysis using statistical software
  • Design and fabricate microfluidic components and integrate them into diagnostic devices

Requirements

  • PhD in electrical engineering, material science, chemistry, physics, or related science or engineering discipline
  • At least 5 years of experimental experience in designing and testing nano-sensors, Field Effect Sensors (FETs), transducers, or other sensing applications
  • Prior experience with microfluidics, instrumentation, data acquisition systems.
  • Experience in engineering and design software including LabVIEW, Matlab, AutoCAD, and Solidworks.
  • Interdisciplinary experience in bio or chemical sensing is a plus

Research Scientist: Molecular Biology

INanoBio is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher to support our cutting-edge disease diagnostics research that leverages deep insights into molecular and cellular pathways to discover proteomic and genomic biomarkers for early diagnosis. The role supports our point-of-care in vitro diagnostics development pipelines working with scientists and device engineers on overall research studies.

Job responsibilities:

  • Perform biofunctionalization reactions, immobilize proteins and DNA, PCR, RT-PCR, proteomic assays
  • Cell free protein expression, plasmid cloning and preparation, in vitro transcription and translation (IVTT)
  • Design assays to validate and characterize activities of IVTT proteins, detect protein interactions with sensors such as surface plasmon resonance (SPR)
  • Design immunoassays, including sandwich ELISA to quantitate antibodies and cellular metabolites such as ATP, NAD(P)H, membrane-bound and intracellular proteins
  • Design and develop advanced high throughput multiplexed strategies for point of care proteomic and genomic biomarker detection
  • Support development of federal grant proposals and peer reviewed publications

Qualifications:

  • PhD in cell biology, microbiology, biochemistry, molecular biology, immuno-oncology or related life science disciplines
  • Proven track record of scientific innovation as reflected by scientific publications in peer-reviewed research journals
  • Prior experience with in vitro or ex vivo cell-based protein expression systems
  • Hands on experience in bacterial and mammalian cell culture techniques
  • Very high proficiency in data analysis and presentation
  • Excellent communication/ writing skills is a must

Fabrication Engineer: Semiconductor Process Development and Integration

  • Fabricate and characterize FET based nanopore devices for DNA sequencing and other applications
  • Design and develop integration of microfluidic components into semiconductor-based diagnostic devices
  • Design of experiments (DOE) for process development and optimization
  • Perform failure analysis and root cause analysis for semiconductor-based nano-sensor devices and microfluidic components
  • Semiconductor process development and tools operation at different scales in research laboratories and semiconductor cleanroom facilities

Requirements

  • PhD or MS in electrical engineering, material science, physics, or related science or engineering discipline
  • At least 5 years of hand-on experience in semiconductor process development and integration related to Field Effect transistors (FETs) and MEMs.
  • Hands-on experience in semiconductor processes such as lithography patterning, film deposition techniques, dry plasm etch, wet etch and clean etc.
  • Hands-on experience in semiconductor materials characterization such as profilometry, AFM, film measurement etc.
  • Experience with imaging and characterization TEM, SEM, FIB, EDX, ion beam, X ray spectroscopies
  • Proven record of technical achievements and contributions
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
